Frequently Asked Questions

I am 65 and healthy. Why should I join?

At Home on the Sound offers a way to connect with a larger community. There is access to a host of resources through our community partners. Members receive discounts from local merchants and participate in activities such as museum trips, concerts, lectures, courses, etc. At Home helps people connect with others and provides a sense of security. Membership is a good insurance policy that At Home on the Sound will be there when you need it.

What if I can't afford the regular membership fee?

Thanks to our Lynn Reichgott Membership Fund, we can offer a special reduced membership rate for those who qualify. Please call (914) 899-3150 to speak with our director in confidence.

Won't At Home on the Sound duplicate the work and services of other agencies?

No. At Home on the Sound will encourage the use of other agencies when appropriate. We are committed to providing additional services that will address the needs of our members and support their decisions to stay in their homes.

How is At Home on the Sound financed?

As with Aging-in-Place organizations elsewhere in the country, membership fees cover a portion of At Home's expenses. To keep these fees affordable and to offer scholarship aid to potential members with limited incomes, the bulk of At Home's revenue must come from individual contributions and foundations as well as grants from civic and community entities.

Are there geographical limits?

At Home on the Sound's membership is open to all residents 60 and over who live in the Larchmont-Mamaroneck area.

What if I need something that is not on the list of services?

Call At Home for anything and everything. We will work with you to find a solution.

Can I buy memberships for relatives and friends?

Yes, giving the means to continue living in your own home is a wonderful gift. You will be happy knowing that your loved ones are safe and taken care of. They will enjoy living independently in the community they love.
